MOSU Seoul, a fine dining restaurant operated by Chef Sung Anh, known for the Netflix series Culinary Class Wars, is facing controversy over its wine service.
The issue began on April 21st after a post titled “I was served a cheaper wine bottle than I ordered at MOSU” spread on online communities. The author claimed that the wine served during the meal was a different, cheaper vintage than what was ordered.
According to the post, the sommelier at the restaurant initially explained that a 2005 vintage bottle would be served at the table. However, the customer later noticed that the pairing menu specifically listed a 2000 vintage. They became suspicious after finding that the taste and aroma did not match the premium year, and later confirmed that they had been served a different wine bottle from what they had ordered.

The price difference between the two vintages is approximately ₩100,000 (about $75). The customer said, “When I asked the sommelier if they had served the correct wine, they changed their answer, saying there was a separate bottle of the 2000 vintage.” The customer also added that when they requested a photo, a different bottle was presented, raising suspicions that the mistake may have been known from the beginning.
The customer expressed deep disappointment with how the situation was handled, saying, “It’s questionable for such a mistake to occur in a restaurant with two Michelin stars.” The person added that what was especially frustrating was the restaurant’s response, which felt like they were implying that letting them taste the mistakenly served wine for free should be enough instead of offering a proper apology.
Social media reactions have been swift and divided. Many critics argue that high-end fine dining relies heavily on trust and precision. Others are urging caution, saying the public should wait for an official statement before drawing conclusions.
MOSU Seoul has not yet released an official statement regarding the incident.
