Mo Geon Hu is apologizing after facing backlash over his social media activity.

On July 3rd, Mo posted a statement on his Instagram, writing, “First, I sincerely apologize for causing concern to many people.”

The actor explained that the controversy stemmed from a comment he had liked on a video related to North Korea’s Kippumjo, the so-called “pleasure squad.”

“The like on the comment in question was the result of an accidental tap while I happened to come across the post and was checking the comments,” he said.

Mo said he only became aware of the issue later because of his work and personal commitments. After confirming what had happened, he said he immediately removed the like.

“Regardless of the reason, I deeply regret that I was not more careful in managing my social media, which led to a major misunderstanding and caused discomfort and disappointment to many people,” he wrote.

But he pushed back against what he called malicious interpretations and rumors spreading online.

“I want to make it clear that this was a simple tap mistake and has absolutely nothing to do with my usual values or beliefs,” he said.

The backlash began after it became known that Mo had liked a comment on a video posted by North Korean defector and creator Kim Seo Ah titled, “Do They Really Make You Take Off Your Clothes First If You Join North Korea’s Kippumjo?”

Mo has appeared in dramas including Study Group and Half of Me.
