Chae Jong Hyeop is set to expand his growing popularity in Japan with the new drama Bakansu no Hosoku, aka The Rules of Vacation.
Premiering July 27 in Japan, ABEMA’s original drama Bakansu no Hosoku stars Kanna Hashimoto as Hoshino Midori, a woman burned out by the demands of everyday life. Her escape to a seaside villa takes an unexpected turn when she meets Nishigami, a mysterious caretaker played by Chae Jong Hyeop.
Set against a dreamy summer backdrop, the “detox romance” follows Midori as she begins to fall for Nishigami and reconnect with the parts of life she had been too busy to enjoy.
The first poster and teaser offer a glimpse of Chae Jong Hyeop’s quiet, enigmatic charm as Nishigami, a man who clearly has more to his story. With his restrained performance and easy chemistry with Kanna Hashimoto, the series is already teasing a breezy summer romance with a hint of mystery.
Chae Jong Hyeop previously won over Japanese viewers with the 2024 drama Eye Love You, becoming the first Korean actor to lead a TBS prime-time 10 PM drama series. The drama sparked a wave of buzz after its release, topping both Netflix Japan’s TV shows chart and TVer’s overall ranking.
Bakansu no Hosoku premieres in Japan on July 27th and will be available worldwide on Netflix starting July 31st.
