BLACKPINK’s Jisoo has quietly departed for an overseas schedule as a heavy controversy involving her older brother continues to intensify.
Jisoo left for Paris on April 22nd through Incheon International Airport to attend the opening ceremony of the Cannes International Series Festival. This trip was initially planned to be officially open to the press, with Jisoo expected to showcase her airport fashion in sponsored brand attire. However, the official media coverage was abruptly canceled the day before due to what were cited as “internal circumstances.”
Jisoo arrived at the terminal in casual attire that contrasted sharply with her usual glamorous ambassador look. She wore a striped gray t-shirt and wide-leg jeans, paired with a mask and a khaki baseball cap pulled low to hide her face. She still took a moment to acknowledge the fans who had waited for her by offering a calm wave and a brief glance.
Public attention has recently shifted toward reports that the brother of a famous girl group member was arrested for the alleged sexual harassment of a female internet streamer. This individual was later identified as Jisoo’s older brother. He is also facing harrowing allegations from his wife involving domestic violence, sexual assault, confinement and water torture. These reports follow separate suspicions of illegal filming that emerged last year.
Jisoo has firmly distanced herself from the situation by stating that she has provided no financial or legal support to her brother. She further clarified that her independent agency, BLISSOO, is managed without any involvement from her family members. However, many people began to question this stance after her brother’s name was found in the credits of her recent professional projects.
Records show that Jisoo’s brother’s name was listed as the Jisoo’s management representative for her Netflix drama Boyfriend on Demand and Coupang Play series Newtopia. His name also appeared in the credits for her solo fan meeting.

The production team for Boyfriend on Demand addressed the growing backlash on April 21st by claiming the credit was a clerical error. They stated, “Shortly after the work’s release in early March, we confirmed an error in the actor’s management notation in the work’s credits due to a mistake by the production company. We immediately took corrective action.”
This explanation has largely backfired with the public and sparked cold reactions from netizens. Many observers find the “mistake” excuse difficult to believe, with one commenter asking, “Can someone unrelated be listed by mistake?” Others expressed deep skepticism toward the production company’s logic, noting, “Does the production company list the actor’s company representative as they please?” and “How did the production company know the name of someone who has no relation to Jisoo?”
The criticism continued as fans and onlookers analyzed the timing of the agency’s statements. One netizen remarked, “Jisoo should have just said they cut ties after looking into the facts, rather than saying they’ve been estranged for a long time,” while another suggested, “If they had just said they cut ties after knowing about the incident from the beginning, most people would have understood. They dug their own grave.” The sentiment remains tense, with many feeling that the “delayed response and threats of legal action only increased the backlash.”
