Ji Ye Eun opened up about her upcoming marriage to dancer Vata, sharing details of his romantic proposal and her close relationship with his family.
During the September 13th broadcast of SBS’s Running Man, the cast congratulated Ji Ye Eun on her recently announced December wedding.
Ji Ye Eun revealed that the couple had actually decided to get married earlier this year, around the time they made their relationship public. Addressing speculation that the wedding might be due to a pregnancy, she clarified, “That’s not the case. We don’t have plans yet. I want us to enjoy being newlyweds for a while.”
Yoo Jae Suk then recalled that Ji Ye Eun had previously mentioned her wedding date during a Running Man shoot, but said the cast had not realized she was being serious at the time.
Speaking about what drew her to Vata, Ji Ye Eun described him as a warm and dependable partner. “Even when we argue, he chooses his words carefully,” she said. “He was also a huge source of strength when I was sick.”
She also shared that Vata’s family has warmly welcomed her. When Yoo Jae Suk asked whether they liked her, she replied, “They really do. They watch ‘Running Man’ every week.” She added that she had even missed Kim Jong Kook’s concert because she was visiting Vata’s mother in Chungju, where his parents farm.
The conversation then turned to Vata’s proposal, which Ji Ye Eun became visibly emotional while recalling.
She said she had come home late after an especially exhausting day of filming to find a trail of candles and balloons waiting for her. Vata read her a letter before presenting her with an engagement ring.
“You know that thing a lot of women want? Tiffany?” she said. “I’m really not someone who’s into things like that, but I’d never seen that mint-colored box before.”
Ji Ye Eun also laughed along when the cast joked about joining the couple on their honeymoon, responding, “That’d be fun.”
