BLACKPINK’s Jisoo has officially addressed the ongoing controversy involving her family. Shortly after the statement was released, her scheduled media appearance at Incheon International Airport was canceled.
Jisoo had been set to greet reporters on April 22nd before departing for Paris. However, on April 21st, her agency announced that the appearance had been canceled due to “unavoidable internal circumstances.”
The timing has drawn attention, as it comes just one day after a formal statement from Jisoo’s legal team on April 20th. She has appointed Kim & Chang Law Offices to handle the matter.
Her attorney, Eun Hyun Ho, stated, “We deeply regret reckless attempts to link our artist and Blisoo to these family-related issues. Making such associations based on false information constitutes clear defamation.”
Her representatives further clarified, “These allegations have absolutely no connection to Jisoo or Blisoo. Much of what is circulating online is either unverified speculation or false rumors.”
“Jisoo began her trainee years at a young age and became independent early on,” they added. “She has lived apart from her family for a long time, making it impossible for her to be aware of or involved in this individual’s private matters.”
The statement also ruled out any financial ties to the controversy. They continued, “Neither Jisoo nor Blisoo has provided any financial or legal support to this individual, nor do they plan to do so in the future. We are staying completely out of this matter.”
The legal team concluded with a stern warning to the public. They noted, “Using the artist’s name or image in connection with unrelated controversies is a violation of her rights. We will pursue both civil and criminal action against anyone who spreads false information or publishes speculative reports without proper verification.”
Jisoo recently starred as Seo Mi Rae in Netflix’s Boyfriend on Demand, released in March.
