Netflix has dropped the main poster and trailer for its upcoming romantic comedy Can This Love Be Translated?—and it’s all about love getting lost (and found) in translation.
The series pairs Ju Ho Jin, a world-class interpreter who speaks multiple languages, with Cha Mu Hee, a global superstar who turns his carefully ordered life upside down.
The newly released poster sells the vibe instantly: Ju Ho Jin (Kim Seon Ho) and Cha Mu Hee (Go Youn Jung) locked in a soft, swoony stare, set against a romantic Italian street. The tagline—“The one language you want to understand most”—teases the heart of the story: he’s emotionally fluent in everything but love, and she’s determined to crack his code.
The trailer kicks off with Ho Jin effortlessly switching between Japanese and Italian before colliding with Mu Hee in a chance meeting at a restaurant in Japan. Fast forward, Mu Hee is now a full-blown global icon, cast in an international dating reality show alongside Japan’s so-called romance prince Hiro, played by Sota Fukushi. At a press event, she comes face-to-face with Ho Jin again—this time as her interpreter.
Things escalate quickly when Mu Hee asks Ho Jin to join her on a “romantic trip” shoot. His barely-hidden smile says everything, even when the words don’t. “Whether it cuts or stings, go ahead. This time, I’ll understand it,” Mu Hee says in one scene. Ho Jin fires back, “Explain it so I can understand. Your language is too hard for me.”
With stunning backdrops in Japan, Italy, and Canada, plus glimpses of Do Ra Mi—the breakout role that made Mu Hee a superstar—the trailer promises big feelings, messy timing, and plenty of almost-moments.
Can This Love Be Translated? premieres January 16th, exclusively on Netflix.
