Park Hyung Sik has made his highly anticipated debut as a villain in the new KBS fantasy-action series, Twelve, which premiered last weekend. The actor, known for his charming lead roles, captivated audiences with his intense first appearance as a formidable evil spirit.
The role comes at a busy time for Park Hyung Sik, who recently made headlines with rumors of earning 500 million won ($370,000 USD) per episode and with the launch of his own agency, RÊVE Entertainment, alongside his longtime manager.
In the new series, Park Hyung Sik takes on the role of Oh Gwi, a powerful crow-like entity who stands against 12 angels living on Earth to protect humanity. After being sealed away for thousands of years, Oh Gwi awakens and immediately begins forging a dangerous pact with a human ally to corrupt the world.
The premiere episodes also hinted at a deeper backstory, revealing Oh Gwi has a mysterious connection to another character named Mir (Lee Joo Bin) and a shared history with the powerful beings who sealed him away, played by veteran actors Ma Dong Seok and Sung Dong Il.
Viewers were immediately impressed by Park’s transformation, with his charismatic portrayal of the ancient evil. Despite it being his first time playing a villain, his performance has been praised for seamlessly fitting the genre and proving his versatility as an actor.
Twelve airs on Saturdays and Sundays in Korea and is available to stream globally on Disney Plus.
