Byun Yo Han is opening up about why he decided to marry Tiffany Young, revealing that she was the first partner who made him feel protected rather than the other way around.
The actor appeared in a video uploaded to Choo Sung Hoon’s YouTube channel on September 3rd, where he shared details about their relationship and married life.
Asked how long he had been married, Byun said, “We got married in February. It’s been about six months.” He added that the couple dated for around a year and a half before marrying.
When asked what ultimately made him decide to marry Tiffany, Byun said he was sharing the story publicly for the first time.
“I always dated feeling like I had to protect the other person,” he said. “But she was the first woman who protected me, gave me courage and helped me overcome things.”
One of those things was a long-standing fear of flying.
Byun explained that health issues and his fear of airplanes had kept him from traveling for nearly a decade. He had gradually worked his way up from short flights to Japan to longer trips to Southeast Asia, but had never imagined going farther.
“Then Tiffany was the first person to book a flight for me and say, ‘Trust me. Just follow me,'” he recalled. “She booked the best seat for me and sat one class below me herself.”
Byun said the experience left a lasting impression on him.
“As soon as I got off the plane, I thought, ‘What is this feeling?'” he said. “I’ve been acting for a long time, and I’m not exactly young, but I felt an emotion I’d never felt before.”
The actor also spoke warmly about married life. “I’m really happy right now,” he said. “But I always try to stay level-headed. I want to love her for a long time, so I’m pacing myself.”
Asked what the two most enjoy doing together, Byun pointed to the simple moments.
“It’s nothing big, but after our schedules, we like taking walks with our dogs and just talking,” he said. “Traveling is nice too.”
Byun and Tiffany first met while appearing together in the 2024 Disney Plus series Uncle Samsik. Their relationship later developed into a romance, and the two legally married after registering their marriage in February.
