Merry Berry Love, starring Ji Chang Wook and Mio Imada, has become the most-watched Japanese live-action series released on Disney Plus in 2026 worldwide, based on viewership during its first 14 days following its October 7th premiere.
The Korean-Japanese romantic comedy follows Lee Yubin (Ji Chang Wook), a once-successful spatial designer who loses everything and travels to Japan in search of land registered under his father’s name. On the picturesque Charo Island, he crosses paths with Karin (Mio Imada), a strawberry farmer who inherited her grandfather’s farm.
Ji portrays Yubin as he adjusts to life after losing his career and status, while Imada plays the spirited Karin, whose unexpected connection with him gradually blossoms into romance despite their language and cultural differences.
Returning to romantic comedy, Ji has drawn attention for his chemistry with Imada, who is known for projects including My Happy Marriage, Trillion Game and Tokyo Revengers.
Viewers have praised the pair’s chemistry and the show’s lighthearted charm. One fan wrote, “Ji Chang Wook and Mio Imada’s chemistry is incredible! Fans in both countries are melting,” while another commented, “This is exactly the kind of romantic comedy Ji Chang Wook does best.”
Merry Berry Love releases new episodes every Wednesday on Disney Plus.
