
Girls’ Generation member Taeyeon has publicly shared a joint statement from her global fandom demanding accountability and compensation following the abrupt cancellation of her Japan concert.
Taeyeon took to her social media on April 24th to post an official statement that the global fan union released regarding the cancellation of her “The TENSE” concert in Tokyo, Japan.
In the statement, the fan union urged SM Entertainment to take responsibility and implement several key actions. These include clearly identifying those responsible for the situation and imposing appropriate disciplinary measures on the SM Entertainment 1Center and any involved parties; issuing an official apology and statement through Taeyeon’s official channels addressing the cancellation; providing a clear and transparent compensation plan for fans affected by the cancellation; ensuring open and reliable communication moving forward to prevent similar issues from occurring during future “The TENSE” tour dates; and clarifying whether new dates will be scheduled for the canceled Japan shows, with prompt and direct updates from SM Entertainment.

The union also emphasized the importance of protecting the artist, stating, “We strongly oppose blaming the artist and will not tolerate situations where Taeyeon is wrongfully held accountable. We want to ensure she doesn’t carry the burden of addressing this issue alone.”
SM Entertainment announced on April 17th that the cancellation of Taeyeon’s solo concerts in Japan, which were scheduled for April 19th and 20th. The agency cited logistical issues as the reason for the cancellation and explained that key stage equipment was being shipped to Japan but had not arrived in time.
Following the cancellation, Taeyeon shared her heartbreak with fans on the communication platform Bubble, writing, “I’m worried about SONE (Girls’ Generation’s fandom) and I truly don’t know what to say. A concert made with so much effort and anticipation from so many people was suddenly taken away. It feels like it was stolen. I feel empty and devastated, and I don’t know how to express these emotions.”
