Jennie‘s love for Chanel has always been well-known, but now it turns out some of her most iconic pieces came straight from her mom’s closet.
In a recent appearance on Hong Jin Kyung’s YouTube channel “zzin_genius,” Jennie opened up about her connection to the French luxury house and how it was her mother who first sparked that affection.
“I was a very opinionated kid when it came to style,” Jennie said. “I fought with my mom a lot about clothes,” she laughed, adding that her mom’s fashion sense eventually played a huge role in shaping her own. Jennie has been a Chanel ambassador since 2018 and says the brand now feels like “family.”
A vintage Chanel cashmere-wool cardigan from the 2019–2020 F/W collection, estimated at around 4.7 million KRW (approx. $3,200). The piece is no longer available anywhere, leaving fans in despair.
Another favorite is a vintage Chanel Boston bag that Jennie uses regularly for travel. It’s highly sought-after and currently trades secondhand for up to 7.4 million KRW (approx. $5,040), though most listings are completely sold out.

She also turned heads with a baby-blue cropped Chanel tee that fits like a glove—a vintage piece from the brand’s 1990s collection, originally worn by her mom. Despite its popularity after Jennie wore it, it’s no longer available on the market. The same goes for a black vintage Chanel Matelassé lambskin chain shoulder bag Jennie once styled. It’s valued around 5 million KRW (approx. $3,400), but currently unavailable anywhere.
Fans have flooded the internet with reactions like, “Even if I wanted to buy it, I couldn’t,” “That’s mother-daughter fashion goals,” “I need to start saving heirloom pieces for my own kid,” and “Wonder if my mom has some Chanel pieces to share LOL”
Turns out, great style really does run in the family.
