Shin Mina shared her appreciation for husband Kim Woo Bin’s support ahead of the release of her new film The Eyes.
During an interview on June 16th, the actress spoke about Kim Woo Bin attending the film’s VIP premiere the day before.
Laughing, Shin Mina noted that The Eyes was actually filmed before the couple got married.
“I filmed it before we got married, so it doesn’t really feel like my first project after marriage,” she said.
Shin Mina and Kim Woo Bin tied the knot in a private ceremony last December after dating for many years.
Speaking about his appearance at the premiere, Shin Mina said, “I was really grateful that Kim Woo Bin took the time to come despite his busy schedule. It meant a lot to me.”
She added, “I told him he had to come. He came during a break from filming, watched the movie and then went right back to work.”
According to Shin Mina, Kim Woo Bin had positive feedback after seeing the film.
“He said he enjoyed it,” she shared. “He told me that since I had worked so hard and worried so much about this project, I didn’t need to worry anymore.”
She continued, “Both of our schedules became incredibly busy before we got married. Right now, Kim Woo Bin is filming a drama, and I’m also filming a drama, so seeing each other at this VIP premiere was actually the first time we’d met in a while.”
When asked whether the couple discusses their projects with each other, Shin Mina laughed and replied, “We usually think about those things on our own. We’d already chosen our next projects before getting married. We didn’t really discuss them, since there are romantic storylines involved.”
The actress was also asked whether marriage had changed her life in any significant way.
“Even now, there are moments when we’re talking about work and I suddenly think, ‘Oh right, we’re married now.’ I don’t know if everyone feels that way, but that’s been my experience.”
However, she emphasized the sense of support she receives from her husband.
“Because he’s so supportive and takes a genuine interest in what I do, I feel very secure in our relationship. We can talk about anything comfortably.”
Shin Mina also reflected on how marriage and life experiences may influence her work as an actress.
“I’ve wanted to explore a wide range of roles and projects from the beginning of my career,” she said. “I want to keep doing that regardless of marriage. I hope all of my experiences—whether through marriage or other parts of life—build up over time and naturally come through in my acting.”
She added, “I’m working the same way I did before marriage, but maybe something has changed. The audience’s perception of me may have changed, and if that ends up helping me as an actress in some way, that would be great.”
The Eyes, directed by Yeom Ji Ho, follows a woman who gradually loses her sight due to a hereditary condition while investigating the mysterious death of her twin sister.
Shin Mina takes on a dual role as twin sisters Seo Jin and Seo In. Seo Jin is a photographer who begins uncovering the truth behind her sister’s death while coping with vision loss, while Seo In is a successful ceramic artist who also lives with visual impairment before meeting a mysterious end.
The film is set to hit theaters on June 24th.
