The original online post alleging that actress Cha Ye Ryun was involved in school bullying has been temporarily restricted, even as the accusations remain disputed.
As of November 2nd, the post, first published on October 29th, is no longer accessible. A notice cited Article 44-2 of South Korea’s Information and Communications Network Act, which allows online platforms to temporarily restrict access to content following a complaint alleging infringement of personal rights.
The measure does not establish whether the allegations are true or false. It remains unclear who requested the restriction or what specifically prompted it.
The controversy began when an anonymous writer claimed to have suffered repeated bullying and physical assaults by an actress born in 1985 in middle school. The writer alleged that the abuse occurred in classrooms, bathrooms and nearby buildings, including an incident in which being slapped caused damage to their eardrum and swelling to their face.
Although the post did not identify the actress by name, online users linked the details about her birth year and the name of the middle school to Cha Ye Ryun.
Her agency, HB Entertainment, firmly denied the allegations on October 30th, stating, “We have confirmed that the claims are groundless.”
Conflicting accounts subsequently emerged from people claiming to be former classmates. Some alleged that Cha had associated with intimidating bullies, while others said they had never witnessed her bullying or assaulting anyone.
The production team behind Cha’s YouTube channel also announced on November 1st that it would disable certain videos and comment sections to prevent the spread of unverified rumors and personal attacks against her family.
The team clarified that comments were managed independently by the production staff, without the actress’s involvement.
With the original post now inaccessible and conflicting accounts continuing to circulate, the allegations remain unverified.
