Shin Mina showed her enduring love for longtime boyfriend Kim Woo Bin as she reflected on her 9-year public relationship.
During a wrap-up interview for the tvN drama No Gain No Love on October 2nd, Shin Mina discussed the feedback she’s received from friends and family.
No Gain No Love centers around Son Hae Young (Shin Mina), a woman who marries because she refuses to take a loss, and Kim Ji Wook (Kim Young Dae), a man who becomes her husband because he doesn’t want to cause any loss. Shin Mina’s character, Hae Young, is known for being fiercely protective of her own interests, but warm and caring to those close to her, earning the love of viewers.
The actress shared that her friends showed so much love for her character. “They loved the comedic moments in the beginning, which really boosted my energy throughout filming. My family also enjoyed it, and I received so many messages from friends telling me how funny the drama was.”
Since publicly confirming her relationship with Kim Woo Bin in 2015, the couple has been going strong for nine years. In a recent interview for Netflix’s Officer Black Belt, Kim Woo Bin addressed their public romance, saying, “The fans’ support doesn’t burden me at all. In fact, I’m grateful for it. (She) is such a wonderful person, and I’ve gained a lot of positive influence from her.”
When asked if Kim Woo Bin had shared any feedback on her latest drama, Shin smiled and said, “He told me he’s really enjoying it. We always cheer each other on in every project.”
The drama No Gain No Love centers on a “fake marriage” that turns into real love. While the characters start with a marriage of convenience, Shin Mina reflected on the theme of “loss” in relationships, saying, “The drama uses the word’ loss,’ but it’s not meant in a negative way. When it comes to relationships, it’s more about understanding than taking a loss.”
She added, “Hae Young went through her own journey of growth, especially in the final episode where she comes to understand and love her mother. I think when you have a lot of understanding in relationships, it doesn’t feel like a loss at all.”
