CORTIS held its first concert less than a year after its debut, but the show drew mixed reactions over its short runtime and repeated songs.
The group—Martin, James, Juhoon, Seonghyeon and Keonho—kicked off its first tour, “PUT YOUR PHONE DOWN,” at Inspire Arena in Incheon on July 18. The title reflects the group’s desire for fans to put down their phones and fully enjoy the moment.
“We will do our best to give the audience an unforgettable experience,” CORTIS said ahead of the show.
Afterward, however, complaints spread across social media about the roughly 100-minute runtime and repetitive setlist.
CORTIS currently has just 12 released songs, prompting concerns even before the concert over whether the group had enough material for a full show.
Concertgoers claimed the group performed “YOUNGCREATORCREW” five times and “REDRED” four times. Some also said the lack of VCR segments and costume changes made the concert feel even more repetitive.
The 143,000-won (approximately $100) ticket price further fueled the backlash.
Others praised the group’s live performance and energetic atmosphere, but fans expecting a traditional K-pop concert said they were disappointed.
“They should have called it a fan concert or fan meeting instead,” one commenter wrote. Another said, “$100 is way too much for what they gave.”
Others added, “They should have prepared something else if they didn’t have enough songs,” and “Fans would have loved even a few cover performances.”
CORTIS performed again at the same venue on July 19 and will continue the tour with 14 shows across nine cities, including Toronto, New York and Kanagawa.
Fans are now watching to see whether the group will address the criticism at its remaining concerts.
