tvN’s Spooky in Love bounced back in its second episode after a slow start.

The series debuted to a nationwide rating of 3.0%, the day’s lowest among weekend dramas and far behind SBS’ Agent Kim Reactivated at 23.1%. Episode 2 rose to 5.3%, closing the gap with KBS’ The Husband at 6.4% and JTBC’s The Apartment Job at 6.0%.

The premiere introduced Cheon Yeo Ri (played by Park Eun Bin), a woman who can see ghosts and grants their wishes on a shaman’s advice.

While searching for a body buried in the mountains, she crossed paths with prosecutor Ma Gang Uk (Yang Se Jong), who was investigating the case. Their misunderstanding led to a tense first encounter.

The two met again while chasing a criminal and reluctantly teamed up to make the arrest. Suspicious of how Yeo Ri uncovered clues faster than the police, Gang Uk began looking into her identity. They later came face-to-face again at the hotel Yeo Ri runs, ending the episode with the pair confronting each other from opposite sides of a door.

In Episode 2, Yeo Ri investigated suspicions surrounding Park Seung Jae (Kim Do Wan), her cousin’s boyfriend. Gang Uk, who was investigating a missing person’s case, also began to suspect him.

Their paths crossed again during the investigation, and Yeo Ri grew concerned that touching her may have caused Gang Uk to start seeing ghosts as well.

“You’re not my type,” he shot back, sparking another round of playful bickering.

When the two unexpectedly met again at the same place, it raised anticipation over whether their string of coincidences might be turning into fate.
