Park Eun Bin said she didn’t expect mixed reactions to her kiss scene with Cha Eun Woo.

Park Eun Bin met reporters on May 22nd to discuss the Netflix original series The WONDERfools.

The WONDERfools is a comedic adventure set in the late 1990s, following ordinary people who gain superpowers and try to protect the world from villains. Park Eun Bin plays Eun Chae Nee, a teleportation user and the notorious troublemaker of Haeseong City.

The series was highly anticipated as it reunited Extraordinary Attorney Woo director Yoo In Sik with Park Eun Bin, Im Seong Jae and Choi Dae Hoon. However, lead actor Cha Eun Woo faced a tax evasion controversy just before the release. His scenes remained unchanged as the show’s post-production was already complete. Director Yoo explained, “It was a decision made for the sake of completing the work.”

The WONDERfools has been praised as a unique and heartwarming Korean sci-fi superhero series since its release. The unexpected romance between Eun Chae Nee (played by Park Eun Bin) and Lee Woon Jeong (Cha Eun Woo) has drawn attention. While not a main focus of the story, their love story and kiss scene became a standout moment.\

However, some viewers felt the romance developed too quickly and seemed abrupt.

Responding to this, Park Eun Bin said, “I didn’t expect there to be divided opinions. I saw it as a natural progression. Eun Chae Nee lived with the constant fear of death, so the thought of leaving someone behind would have made her value life and love even more.”

She continued, “Once her limits were lifted, her world expanded, giving her the freedom to pursue things she couldn’t before. Naturally, her heart changed.”

Park Eun Bin also explained Lee Woon Jeong’s character, saying, “He lacks social skills and carries past trauma, but he learns the value of the community through the people around him. Their growing worlds enrich the story of The WONDERfools.”

Concluding, she said, “Love naturally became part of her life as she learned to embrace more. I believe they’ll keep living happily, teasing and bickering with each other.”

The WONDERfools is now streaming on Netflix.
