Director Jung Ji Woo of Netflix’s upcoming original series The Scandal has hinted that viewers can expect a bold and provocative take on the story.
During a press conference held on the morning of September 9th at JW Marriott Dongdaemun Square Seoul in Seoul, Jung was asked about the series’ level of sensuality, particularly in comparison to the 2003 film Untold Scandal, which drew significant attention at the time for its daring subject matter.
Jung gave a brief but suggestive response, saying, “You can look forward to the content level,” hinting that the 2026 series will not shy away from its provocative themes.
Nana described the series as “passionate,” adding, “I hope viewers can fully feel the emotions beneath that passion.”
Ji Chang Wook said, “It’s a series filled with beautiful visuals, different charms and intriguing relationships.”
Son Ye Jin added, “If you follow the characters’ psychology and emotions, you’ll be able to enjoy the series even more.”
The Scandal follows Lady Jo (played by Son Ye Jin), a woman with extraordinary talent constrained by Joseon society’s expectations, and Jo Won (Ji Chang Wook), Joseon’s most sought-after seducer. The two enter a daring and dangerous wager over love, drawing Hee Yeon (Nana) into their game.
The eight-episode series will premiere on Netflix on September 18th at 5PM KST.
