Bae Doona shared her experiences filming Rebel Moon in Hollywood and her thoughts on acting in a video uploaded to actress Moon Sook‘s personal YouTube channel on February 18th.
“Back in 2022, I spent months shooting Rebel Moon in Los Angeles,” Bae Doona recalled. “The filming took about 7 to 8 months, from March to October. They hit me with this intense diet of almost no sugar and super tough workouts right from the start. One egg white and half an apple was served for breakfast, and 100g of salmon and asparagus for lunch.”
She continued, “I had no energy or strength on that diet. I went into the first filming in that state and I couldn’t act. I usually focus well, but I couldn’t concentrate at all. I made many mistakes even in the scenes I thought I was confident in. I was supposed to think of the other actor as my partner, but I couldn’t. I was very angry with myself at that time.”
“I thought about what was wrong and ended up eating dark chocolate, which I had stopped eating for a month. But then my acting started to improve. I’m a big believer in the role of sugar and fat in human body,” she added.
Moon Sook chimed in, saying, “The sugar we’re talking about is carbohydrates, right? You need to eat complex carbs, but you’re eating simple carbs. Complex carbs are like fuel for our bodies. We need them to power our bodies. People who are on a low-carb diet should adjust it to their exercise level.” She also advised against extreme dieting.
