Ryu Jun Yeol shared his thoughts on his latest film Alienoid in an interview about his upcoming film The Owl.
The Owl, which will be released on November 23rd, is a historical thriller film about a partially blind acupuncturist who can only see at night. The story unfolds as he struggles to reveal the truth behind the Crown Prince’s death he witnessed.
Ryu Jun Yeol first shared what it was like working with Yoo Hae Jin, who played the king for the first time in his acting career. “I wasn’t surprised because I knew he would nail the role,” he said. “Some might ask, ‘Is Yoo Hae Jin playing the king for real?’ But I wasn’t like that. I believed him. I thought this project could have its unique charms that other projects don’t have.”
The actor revealed that the cast and crew put a lot of effort into creating a clever film that will keep viewers hooked. He stressed, “I believe having Yoo Hae Jin as King Injo will make this movie more interesting and stand out from all other period films.”
Meanwhile, director Choi Dong Hoon’s Alienoid failed at this summer box office. When asked about how he feels about it, he answered, “Each film has its own soul and identity. I cannot say the results do not matter, but I think the movie itself had its own story to tell.”
