Agent Kim Reactivated is drawing attention for a bold first in Korean drama production.
According to AI video company Morpheus Studio, on July 9th, a roughly three-minute sequence showing the past of Kim Do Hyeon, the former special agent played by So Ji Sub in SBS’ Friday-Saturday drama Agent Kim Reactivated, was created entirely with AI.
The sequence, which aired across Episodes 1 and 2, follows Kim Do Hyeon as he is sent on a special mission across the border. Rather than using AI for a few quick shots, the production built an entire three-minute action sequence with the technology.
Set in North Korea, the scene includes a building explosion, a snowy car chase, a tunnel pursuit, a car flipping over, a vehicle crashing through a guardrail and sinking into a river, and a recovery scene pulling the car from the water. It also features gunfights, hard-hitting action and close-ups of So Ji Sub’s character.
The sequence stands out for keeping the characters visually consistent, one of the biggest challenges in AI video.

Filming the same sequence in live action would have required major spending on sets, locations, explosions, practical effects, CG and VFX. Instead, the Agent Kim Reactivated team chose to go fully AI to build out the lead character’s backstory.
Morpheus Studio handled the AI production using its in-house platform AICRON. Launched in February, AICRON is a node-based AI content platform that lets creators handle everything from prompts to final video on one canvas, using more than 150 AI models and video tools developed by VFX professionals.
The Agent Kim Reactivated sequence was made 100% through AICRON. Morpheus Studio vice president Ryu Jae Hwan, a veteran VFX supervisor known for 1947 Boston and Swing Kids, oversaw the entire process, from planning and image generation to video production and editing.
“This wasn’t about replacing a few seconds of VFX with AI,” Ryu said. “The key point is that we created an entire sequence that was essential to the story.”
He added that the project worked because the Agent Kim Reactivated team had a clear plan from the start for how AI would serve the drama.
Morpheus Studio said the project was especially meaningful because the sequence was completed entirely through AICRON’s workflow, developed by Korean professionals with domestic technology.
Agent Kim Reactivated scored a 21.6% with its fourth episode on July 4th.
