The 2022 Genie Music Awards has canceled its red carpet event.
On November 4th, the 2022 Genie Music Awards shared, “First of all, I would like to pay our tribute to those who passed away in the Itaewon crowd crush and express our deepest condolences to the bereaved families. We hope that there will be no more unfortunate victims, and we wish a speedy recovery for those injured.”
The organizer will host the event as scheduled at Namdong Gymnasium in Incheon on the afternoon of the 8th. However, the red carpet event and the on-site interviews were canceled.
“Since the country is in the middle of the national mourning period due to the unfortunate accident, Genie Music decided to hold the awards ceremony in a calm and quiet atmosphere as much as possible to be part of the mourning,” the organizer added. “But to keep the promise with many fans who’ve been eagerly waiting for the 2022 Genie Music Awards to be held offline for the first time in three years, the ceremony will be held down to a minimum scale.”
