The latest episode of tvN’s Twenty-Five Twenty-One hinted a sad parting between Kim Tae Ri and Nam Joo Hyuk.
In the fourth episode, Na Hee Do (Kim Tae Ri) and Baek Yi Jin (Nam Joo Hyuk) grow closer with each other. Yi Jin fails a job interview, and Hee Do comforts him by saying, “That company made a wrong decision. Don’t feel so bad. You know what? It feels much better when you turn your tragedy into a comedy.” Yi Jin shows his affection towards Hee Do as he replies, “You’re right. I heard that every tragedy in life is a comedy if you see it from afar.” At this, Hee Do says, “That means we have to live as if we’re seeing ourselves from afar.”
Hee Do then tries her best to make it into the national fencing team, and Yi Jin visits her to root for her. Hee Do asks him, “Why do you root for me? Even my mom doesn’t.” Baek Yi Jin replies, “Because you give me hope. And I want more for you.”
However, as the show fast forwards to the present day, it has been revealed that the two did not end up together. Na Hee Do (Kim So Hyun)’s daughter Kim Min Chae (Choi Myung Bin) doesn’t recognize Baek Yi Jin in his photos. She first learns about Yi Jin while secretly reading her mother’s diary written in 1998. Na Hee Do is also seen startled when her mother Shin Jae Kyung (Seo Jae Hee) tells her that she met Baek Yi Jin last month, indicating that they had lost touch for a while.
