The King’s Affection went out on a high note.
According to Nielsen Korea, the final episode of The King’s Affection recorded an average nationwide viewership rating of 12.1 percent, achieving the highest viewership ratings of its entire run.
In this episode, Lee Hwi (Park Eun Bin) takes down the greedy grandfather by ordering Court Lady Kim to put poison in both of their teas. Fortunately, Hwi survives the poison thanks to the devoted help of Ji Woon (Rowoon).
In the midst of swirling rumors, Queen Dowager (Lee Il Hwa) suggests that she should leave the palace and go to someplace where no one would recognize her. However, she rejects her mother’s kind offer and goes to the newly crowned Lee Hyun (Nam Yoon Su) to accept whatever punishment there is.
Lee Hyun orders to remove all records of Hwi’s life so that Ji Woon and Dami can live an ordinary and happy life. The episode ends with the two kissing on a beautiful beach.
The King’s Affection came in at No.1 on Netflix’s most-watched TV shows list in seven countries and ranked fourth in the world drama rankings.
On a side note, KBS’ new drama When Flowers Bloom, I Think of the Moon �starring Yoo Seung Ho and Hyeri will premiere on December 20th.
