SBS Unveils New Drama Lineup With Top Stars

After achieving satisfactory results with The Penthouse: War in Life and Taxi Driver, SBS unveiled a new lineup for the second half of the year. It plans to show various genres of dramas with stars such as Song Hye Kyo, Kim Nam Gil, and Kim Yoo Jung.

 

Red Sky

Red Sky is a fantasy romance between Hong Cheon Ki, a woman with divine power, and Haram, a red-eyed man who reads the constellations. It is based on the bestseller of the same name written by Moon Embracing the Sun and Sungkyunkwan Scandal author Jung Eun Gwol. Hyena, My Love From the Star, and Deep Rooted Tree director Jang Tae Yu helms the series, starring Ahn Hyo Seop, Kim Yoo Jung, and Gong Myung.

 

One the Woman

One the Woman is a comedy-drama about a corrupt prosecutor who one day loses all of her memories and changes places with a chaebol daughter-in-law who looks just like her. Good Casting and Band of Sisters director Choi Young Hoon helms the project, and Lee Hanee will lead the series with two main roles: the corrupted prosecutor and the chaebol daughter-in-law. Lee Sang Yoon plays the third-generation chaebol who has a fond memory of his first love. Moreover, Jin Seo Yeon, Lee Won Geun, Weki Meki Kim Do Yeon, and The Boyz Young Hoon will also star in the series.

 

Those Who Read Hearts of Evil

Those Who Read Hearts of Evil tells the story of a profiler who struggles to read the minds of serial killers. It is based on a non-fiction novel of the same title written by Kwon Il Yong, Korea’s first profiler, and Ko Na Mu. Reuniting with SBS after The Fiery Priest, Kim Nam Gil takes on the role of the profiler who looks deeper into human minds than anyone else and digs up the cases with Jin Seon Kyu and Kim So Jin.

 

Now, We Are Breaking Up

Now, We Are Breaking Up is a sweet, salty, spicy, sour, and bitter romance written as ‘farewell’ but reads as ‘love.’ Misty scriptwriter Jane will pen the scripts, and Dr. Romantic 2 co-director Lee Gil Bok will produce the series. Since it will be Song Hye Kyo’s long-awaited return to the small screen after Encounter in 2019, the series drew huge attention. Song takes on the role of Ha Young Eun, the head of the design team of a fashion company with strict self-management. And she works with Jang Ki Yong, who plays a freelance photographer Yoon Jae Kuk. Other casts include Choi Hee Seo, Kim Joo Heon, EXO’s Sehun, Girl’s Day Yura.

 

That Year, We Are

That Year, We Are is a romantic comedy about separated lovers summoned in front of the camera against their will, as their documentary, which they filmed ten years ago in their high school years, gets popular. Choi Woo Shik and Kim Da Mi play two main characters after working together in The Witch: Part 1. They are expected to show their chaotic state of mind as the two lead roles. Meanwhile, the series will have a webtoon adaptation. In other words, the drama will deal with the present times of the caracters, and the webtoon will be dealing with their high school days in the form of a prequel.
