Actress Lee Young Ae has officially confirmed her appearance in Gugyeong (working title), one of the most anticipated dramas for the second half of the year. This is her return to dramas in four years. Gugyeong is a full-fledged hardboiled-comedy series about an insurance investigator Gugyeong as she investigates a murder.

Expectations for the new show is heightened especially as it is co-produced by Hyena and The School Nurse Files‘s KeyEast and Group 8 which previously produced multiple hit works such as Boys Over Flowers and Gangnam Beauty. The series is written by a promising screenwriter Sung Cho Yi and directed by Lee Jung Heum.

Lee Young Ae plays the role of Gugyeong, a former police officer who has her back turned against the world. She depicts the life of an insurance investigator who tracks for the true culprit behind a perfectly disguised murder case. As an owner of an extraordinary brain who is motivated by the satisfaction of solving a cold case rather than justice, she fiercely works her way towards the truth by using every possible method.

Meanwhile, various offers have been made from domestic network channels and global OTT services since the news of Lee Young Ae’s comeback has been out. As the actress confirmed her appearance in the show, Gugyeong (working title) is scheduled to begin filming in June, with the goal to start airing in the second half of 2021.
