GFRIEND’s Sowon posted photos of her hugging a Nazi soldier dummy, sparking an uproar.
On Feb 1, Sowon uploaded and quickly deleted two pictures on her Instagram. However, even during that short time, the fact that the mannequin she was hugging and looking fondly into is actually a Nazi soldier was revealed, sparking a heated controversy.
Overseas netizens immediately expressed strong aversion, referring to the Holocaust in which the Nazis massacred about 11 million civilians, including Jews, during World War II. Some even pointed out that the reason “Korea” ranked first in US Twitter real-time trends is related to this issue.
Sowon has not yet mentioned anything since the photos were deleted, but more and more netizens from around the world are demanding apologies for her “insensitive” and “thoughtless” action.
