Song Kang Ho chose movie First Place (literal translation), another new film directed by Shin Yeon Shik, as his next film.
Recently, multiple sources said that Song Kang Ho, who recently chose director Shin Yeon Shik’s Cobweb (literal translation) as his next film, bypassed his choice and will work on another new film by director Shin Yeon Shik.
After sharing the glory with the movie Parasite, Song Kang Ho is currently working on the first Korean air disaster film Emergency Declaration (literal translation).
In June, Song Kang Ho confirmed his appearance in director Shin Yeon Shik’s Cobweb, which is known to launch an experimental production world that destroys the usual form and genre, drawing explosive attention.
However, due to the dense and profound script of Cobweb and the burden of large-scale filming set that has to be created in order to digest 100% indoor studio shooting, the production was disrupted as investment and distribution company weren’t decided. In the end, Song Kang Ho and Shin Yeon Shik took a detour to produce First Place, which tells the story of a women’s volleyball team and the director who leads them, first.
Director Shin Yeon Shik said, “Cobweb will be on hold for a while. I am talking with Song Kang Ho regarding our new works, and First Place is one of them. We are also discussing several other works. When Song Kang Ho finishes working on his current movie, we will start filming in the coming winter. Please look forward to it.”
