Suzy and Lee Jin Wook’s upcoming film Seven O’Clock Breakfast Club for the Brokenhearted is headed to theaters this December, with a new poster and launch teaser offering the first look at its story of love, loss and moving on.
The film follows flight attendant Sa Gang (Suzy) and consultant Ji Hoon (Lee Jin Wook), two people whose relationships have ended but who have yet to fully let go. They meet at a breakfast gathering for people dealing with heartbreak and unexpectedly discover that their “breakup keepsakes” have been switched. As they set out to find their rightful owners, the two begin confronting their own unfinished goodbyes.
The newly released poster features Sa Gang and Ji Hoon alongside the tagline, “It’s over, but I really want to end it.” Sa Gang looks straight ahead with lingering sadness in her eyes, while Ji Hoon wears a similarly subdued expression, hinting at the heartbreak both characters continue to carry.
The launch teaser opens with a quiet narration from Sa Gang as she reflects on the difficulty of moving forward even after a relationship has ended. Ji Hoon is then shown looking back on happier moments with his former partner before making his way to the “Seven O’Clock Breakfast Club for the Brokenhearted.”
The teaser ends with both Sa Gang and Ji Hoon breaking down in tears, offering a glimpse at the emotional journeys ahead for the two characters.
Based on Baek Young Ok’s 2012 novel of the same name, Seven O’Clock Breakfast Club for the Brokenhearted centers on a group of people nursing the wounds of failed relationships who gather for breakfast, exchange keepsakes from their breakups and gradually help one another come to terms with their losses.
The film is directed by Lim Sun Ae, known for An Old Lady and Ms. Apocalypse. Suzy stars as Sa Gang, while Lee Jin Wook plays Ji Hoon, a man still carrying the weight of a loss he has been unable to leave behind.
