‘It Was Love’ Star Park Don Bin Passes Away at 56

Park Dong Bin passed away on April 29th at the age of 56.

This sudden news arrived just before his planned 30th debut anniversary next year and has led to an outpouring of condolences from the entertainment industry and fans.

According to reports from the Pyeongtaek Police Station and broadcasting circles on April 30th, the actor was found dead in a commercial building in Pyeongtaek City around 4:25 PM the previous day. He was reportedly preparing to open a restaurant at that location in early May. Police investigations found no evidence of foul play or a suicide note.

Park Dong Bin graduated from Chung-Ang University’s Theater and Film Department and made a strong impression in the 1996 film The Gingko Bed. He solidified his presence in the Korean film industry with roles in Shiri, Volcano High and Taegukgi: Brotherhood Of War. He also appeared in numerous popular dramas, including Rustic Period (also known as The Age of Barbarians or The Wild Days), Immortal Admiral Yi Sunshin and Sungkyunkwan Scandal.

Notably, his juice scene in the 2012 drama It Was Love earned him the nickname “Juice Guy” and widespread popularity after he dramatically spat out orange juice upon hearing shocking news.

He was consistently praised as a “master actor” for his performances until his most recent work in The Woman Who Swallowed the Sun last year.

Park Dong Bin married actress Lee Sang Yi in 2020 and the couple has one daughter. He recently appeared on a TV show revealing his deep love for his daughter, who had undergone surgery for a congenital heart condition. His wake has been set up at the Domin Funeral Home in Anseong.

The funeral procession will be held on May 1st at 8:30 AM, and he will be laid to rest at Useong Park Cemetery.
