The Korean hip-hop community is mourning the loss of rapper Jerry.K, who passed away at the age of 42 following a courageous battle with glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer. His family confirmed his passing on April 27th.
Jerry.K first opened up about his health struggles in May 2024, telling followers on social media, “I was suddenly diagnosed with a brain tumor and am undergoing surgery and recovery. I don’t quite understand what all of this is, but I hope to get better, even just a little bit. Please think of me sometimes.”

A graduate of the prestigious Seoul National University, Jerry.K was often regarded as one of the most articulate voices in the genre. He launched his career in 2001 as part of the duo Loquence alongside high school friend Makesense and later became a founding member of the influential Soul Company crew.
In 2011, he took his commitment to independent artistry a step further by founding his own label, DAZE ALIVE. Throughout his life, Jerry.K was more than just a musician; he was a vocal critic of social inequality and a storyteller who used his platform to examine the complexities of Korean society. He is remembered not only for his technical skill as a rapper but for his unwavering dedication to using music as a tool for social reflection.
