Director Yoon Jong Bin is returning to Netflix with a new project — and a major cast to match.
On Monday, Netflix confirmed production of Ordinary People (literal title) and unveiled a star-studded lineup including Son Suk Ku, Ha Jung Woo and Ji Chang Wook.
Known for acclaimed works like The Unforgiven, Narco-Saints, and Nine Puzzles, Yoon has built a reputation for sharp storytelling and layered character work. With Ordinary People, he once again dives into Korea’s modern history, exploring the contradictions of power and the people who operate within it.
The film centers on Roh Tae Woo, long seen as the ultimate second-in-command to absolute ruler Chun Doo Hwan, as he hides behind the mask of an “ordinary man” while quietly climbing toward the top — and the figures entangled around him.
Son Suk Ku takes on the role of Roh Tae Woo, portraying the complex inner life of a man who spent years in the shadow of power before finally stepping into it himself. Ha Jung Woo plays Chun Doo Hwan, the dominant force at the center of the regime — continuing his long-running collaboration with Yoon Jong Bin.
Ji Chang Wook joins as Heo Hak Sung, an underclassman from the military academy whom Roh views as a thorn in his side, adding tension to the story. Seo Hyun Woo rounds out the key cast as prosecutor Park Chul Woong, a close aide to Roh.
Backed by production companies behind hits like Narco-Saints, The Match, and Hunt, Ordinary People is set to premiere exclusively on Netflix.
