Lim Ji Yeon and Heo Nam Jun are giving fans a first glimpse at their chemistry ahead of My Royal Nemesis.
The two stars teamed up for a fashion spread and interview in ELLE Korea’s May issue, offering a stylish preview of the upcoming SBS drama, set to premiere May 8th at 9:50 PM KST.
Blending traditional Korean elements with a modern twist, the pictorial captures both a sleek and playful mood—mirroring the tone of the series itself. My Royal Nemesis follows an unknown actress possessed by the spirit of a notorious Joseon-era villainess and a ruthless chaebol heir dubbed a “monster of capitalism,” as their relationship unfolds like a volatile, high-stakes battle.
Speaking about her role as Shin Seori, Lim Ji Yeon described the character as “a woman with a Joseon-era villainess and a modern-day woman coexisting within her.” Rather than separating the two, she said she approached the role as “one character evolving over time,” adding that the introduction of love makes the character feel more layered and complete.
Heo Nam Jun, who plays Cha Segye, described his character as someone driven by logic over emotion. “He evaluates every relationship based on profit and survival,” he explained, noting that Seori’s unpredictable, uncalculated nature is what ultimately begins to break through his guard.
The two actors also shared strong praise for each other, highlighting the trust they built while shaping their scenes together. Lim recalled emotional moments filmed in Jeju as particularly memorable, while Heo said he relied on his co-star throughout.
When asked to sum up their characters’ relationship in a single image, the pair offered fittingly cool metaphors. Lim compared it to “iced coffee and ice cream—cold things coming together to create a deeper flavor,” while Heo described it as “a burgundy red—intense, but softening as it blends.”
