Karina of aespa recently shared her desire to explore acting.
Appearing on the YouTube show with host Jonathan, Karina said, “I want to try everything I can as an entertainer. That way, I won’t have any regrets when I eventually retire.” She added, “That’s why I’ve tried doing variety shows, and I want to give acting a shot in the future.”
When Jonathan mentioned that he also wanted to try acting or music, Karina encouraged him, saying, “I think you’d be good at it.”
Karina also talked about becoming more comfortable in front of the camera over time. “Back then, the members and I would talk about whether we should make up some funny stories to share before appearing on variety shows,” she said with a laugh.
She admitted that she prefers talk-based variety shows over ones that involve physical activity. “I naturally enjoy talking, so those kinds of shows feel easier,” she said. “But being an MC seems really tough because you have to lead the conversation.” Jonathan offered some advice, saying, “For an MC, listening is more important than talking,” and added, “I think Karina would make a great MC someday.”
Karina also gave fans a glimpse of her acting skills last September through Mnet’s My Arti Film, where she starred in a noir-style short film set to her unreleased solo song “Up.” In the video, she played a character who boldly confronts a gang boss, acting alongside actor Lee Dong Hwi.
