Lee Jong Hyun is back on social media after eight years.

The former CNBLUE member returned to his account on August 10th with a series of photos and a lengthy message about his life away from the public eye.

“This is Lee Jong Hyun. I’ve left this account untouched for eight years,” he wrote, explaining that the account had been hacked and that he was still trying to have its username and bio corrected.

Lee, who left CNBLUE in 2019 following a series of controversies, also opened up about how he spent the years after stepping away from public life.

“There were a few years when I shut myself off from the world,” he wrote. “After that, I learned how to work because I wanted to keep living my life.”

He said he eventually found an interest in beauty marketing and has now worked professionally in the field for eight years.

“This is what my days look like now,” Lee continued. “I have meetings, open up products and look them over, and think about how I can make them better.”

He added, “I leave home in the morning and come back at night. I’ve realized how hard it is to simply work and live an ordinary life. Everyone who does that really is incredible.”

Lee ended his post by saying he hopes to communicate with more people moving forward. “From now on, I want to live as Lee Jong Hyun, the person, and connect with more people. I hope everyone has a happy day,” he wrote.

The accompanying photos showed Lee working on a laptop in what appeared to be an office, along with shots of him spending time against a nighttime city backdrop.

Lee debuted with CNBLUE in 2010 and enlisted for mandatory military service in August 2018. While serving, he faced public backlash in March 2019 after it was revealed that he had been a member of a group chat involving Jung Joon Young and Seungri amid a wider scandal over illegally filmed and distributed sexual videos.

He came under renewed criticism that August after streamer Park Min Jung revealed direct messages he had sent her, including, “Your belly fat is so cute,” which was widely criticized as sexually inappropriate.

Lee subsequently left CNBLUE.
