A Korean shaman who accurately predicted the breakup of K-pop superstar IU and actor Lee Jong Suk has shared new details about why the power couple split and what their romantic futures hold.

The insights were revealed in a newly released interview on former entertainment reporter Lee Jin Ho’s channel. In the video, the shaman, known as Cheonsang Seonnyeo, shared her readings of the couple.

“Their energies did not complement each other when looking at their individual horoscopes,” the shaman explained. “Both of their personal energies were simply too strong and clashed. There was a noticeable sense of distance between them, with their interactions feeling more like those of colleagues than of a romantic couple. The spiritual signs showed that the emotional gap had already widened, and their connection was severed.”

She explained that their breakup may have been influenced by their status as top stars in their respective fields. “They are both at the height of their careers, so they have strong personalities and their own ways of doing things. It would have taken a lot of effort for them to compromise,” she said. “In the end, they may have had to deal with loneliness on their own rather than fully depending on each other. Their personalities, busy schedules and emotional distance seem to have played a role.”

The shaman said their emotional detachment began much earlier than the public realized. “I saw their relationship entering a stage of separation around early to mid-last year,” she noted.

The shaman also made a major prediction about IU’s current love life, claiming the singer already has a new partner.

“It appears to be someone older who is very established in their own field and has a stable personality, not necessarily a celebrity,” she revealed. “This person seems to be a dependable anchor who can ease IU’s loneliness. I also see marriage in her cards in three years.”

On the other hand, the shaman predicted that Lee Jong Suk would remain single for the foreseeable future. “He currently has no marriage prospects or new romantic connections. For now, he will focus on his career, projects, and personal activities rather than deep relationships. His marriage luck is not active at the moment.”

This isn’t the first time Cheonsang Seonnyeo’s predictions have turned heads. In April, she posted a blind reading on her own channel using only the stars’ birthdates, with no names attached. Even then, she confidently stated, “The connection between these two has been severed. It indicates they broke up a long time ago, likely about two to two and a half years ago.”

The shaman described IU as loyal, honest and strong. “She learned to be independent and often carries her worries alone because she grew up facing hardships,” the shaman said.

By contrast, she described Lee as highly sensitive. “He liked her a lot initially and made all the effort, and she opened her heart to him. They had a good run for about a year or two, but their personalities just don’t match. Their romantic connection was short from the beginning, and I believe those two years were held together purely by her loyalty.”

She added that Lee “relied on her too much” and unconsciously harbored feelings of insecurity and jealousy, making them “a better match as friends than as lovers.”

The shaman concluded by reiterating that IU’s true match would come later. “A true mate like a prince on a white horse will arrive at age 37, when she is physically and mentally exhausted. It seems she will marry the person she is meeting then, someone who can perfectly complement her personality.”

The shaman’s predictions come after IU’s agency, EDAM Entertainment, and Lee Jong Suk’s agency, Ace Factory, officially confirmed their split in a joint statement, writing: “IU and Lee Jong Suk have broken up. The two will remain good colleagues. As this is the actor’s private life, we ask for your understanding that we cannot provide further details.”

IU and Lee Jong Suk first met in 2012 as co-hosts of the music show Inkigayo. After a decade of friendship, they went public with their relationship on December 31, 2022. Despite capturing the hearts of fans worldwide, the two have officially decided to return to being colleagues after a four-year relationship.
