He Was a Musical Theater Actor

He majored in acting at Sungkyunkwan University, and his talented pipes lead Kim Moo Yul to star on the stage of Grease, Altar Boyz, and his debut role for Jjangtta in 2002. He continued performing until his first television role for KBS2TV’s one-act drama Drama City – For the New Wave and the MBC historical series Chosun Police in 2007. He Was a Construction Worker and Delivery Driver
Word about Kim Moo Yul’s difficult past has been surfacing, and he finally addressed the stories in an episode of You Quiz on the Block. He started off sweetly, saying, “For the first time in 10 years, my neighbors told me ‘I’m cool.” but then discussed his past working as a construction worker and doing food delivery to support his family and pay off his family’s debts. Yu Jae Seok mentioned, “I heard that during your rookie days, you earned 200,000 won ($130) in just one year.” He confirmed and also revealed that when his mother was scammed in high school, the family’s financial situation was so intense that even $1 bus rides were too expensive.
He Voluntarily Went Into Military Service
As mentioned before, Kim Moo Yul had a financially difficult past. It was revealed that he was exempted from Mandatory Military Service in 2010 due to this. However, during the Board of Audit and Inspection’s military service audit, it was discovered that his entertainment earnings exceeded the standard threshold for military service reduction. As the controversy continued, Kim Moo Yul voluntarily enlisted for active duty in 2012 to prevent more public backlash and restore his honor.
