With the grand finale of SBS’s Friday-Saturday drama My Royal Nemesis just around the corner, lead actors Lim Ji Yeon, Heo Nam Jun and Jang Seung Jo have shared their heartfelt closing remarks. The series is set to air its final episode on June 20th.
My Royal Nemesis is a fantasy romantic comedy that follows Kang Dan Shim, a cunning Joseon-era concubine sentenced to death by poison. In a strange twist of fate, her soul travels 300 years into the future and she wakes up in modern Seoul in the body of a struggling actress named Shin Seo Ri. There, she finds herself entangled in a chaotic yet romantic whirlwind with a ruthless chaebol heir as she fights to rewrite her destiny.
The drama quickly established itself as a breakout hit since its premiere on May 8th. Its viewership steadily climbed throughout its run, peaking at an impressive 10.5% nationwide rating for Episode 12, according to Nielsen Korea.
Lim Ji Yeon, who brilliantly tackled the dual roles of Shin Seo Ri and Kang Dan Shim, shared, “Portraying both a time-traveling Joseon villainess and a timid, struggling actress was not easy, but I am incredibly grateful to everyone who laughed and cried along with us.” She added, “I hope Seo Ri remains in your memories for a long time as a strong and lovely character,” showing her deep affection for the role.
Heo Nam Jun, who captured hearts as the sharp-edged Cha Se Gye, expressed his appreciation, saying, “I’ve been so happy receiving an overwhelming amount of love and support from our viewers. There were moments I wished this beautiful time would never end.” He continued, “Thank you from the bottom of my heart for loving My Royal Nemesis. I hope everyone stays healthy.”
Jang Seung Jo, who delivered a standout performance as the villainous Choi Mun Do, added a touch of humor to his farewell. “Thank you for tuning in to My Royal Nemesis every week, for passionately rooting for Seo Ri and Se Gye’s romance, and for hating Mun Do so much,” he said. He concluded with a poignant thought: “The journey of bringing My Royal Nemesis to life for all of you was truly a ‘wonderful new world’ for me as well.”
My Royal Nemesis will air Episode 13 tonight, June 19, before wrapping up its journey with Episode 14 on June 20th.
