TWICE member Jihyo is parting ways with JYP Entertainment after 21 years with the agency and has launched her own company, EMITHAUS.
Jihyo shared the news with fans on October 21st in a handwritten letter posted on social media.
“I have decided to end my 21-year journey with JYP,” she wrote. “I spent most of my life at JYP from my childhood and teenage years to adulthood. There were good days and difficult days, but all those experiences helped shape who I am today.”
She continued, “I sincerely thank everyone at JYP for standing by me for so long and helping me grow. I will always cherish the time we spent together and the memories we made.”
Jihyo explained that starting her own agency was not an ending but a way to shape her future.
“This decision is not so much about ending my past journey as it is about choosing how I want to move forward,” she said. “As a new beginning, I have established my own company, EMITHAUS. Inspired by the word ‘emmit,’ meaning ‘to emit,’ I want to freely explore the potential I have yet to discover.”
She added that working outside a familiar environment would encourage her to approach future decisions and activities with greater care and responsibility.
Jihyo made it clear that her commitment to TWICE remains unchanged despite leaving JYP Entertainment.
“This decision does not mean I am saying goodbye to the team I have been with for so long,” she said. “TWICE is an irreplaceable and precious part of my life. I look forward to the time we will spend together in the future, just as we have in the past. I want to continue sharing the stage with my members and hope we can create many more memories together for years to come.”
Jihyo also expressed her gratitude to fans who have supported her and watched her grow over the 11 years since TWICE debuted.
