Lim Ji Yeon appeared on You Quiz on the Block and opened up about the struggles she faced as a rookie actress, despite making her debut in a leading role.
On the June 17th episode of the tvN talk show, Lim Ji Yeon joined the program as a guest.
Lim Ji Yeon has become a trusted name with hit after hit, from The Glory to The Tale of Lady Ok and her latest-and-onging drama My Royal Nemesis. But the actress revealed there was a time when she doubted her own acting.
Lim made her debut as the lead in the film Obsessed. Looking back, she said, “I made a very glamorous debut, but what came afterward was brutal. The expectations were high, but there weren’t many opportunities, and it was so difficult to make people recognize me as an actress.”
She also compared the pressure she faced at the time to being given a crown she was not yet ready to carry. “If you put a crown on someone who doesn’t have the strength to bear it, they can end up worse off than someone who never wore one at all,” she said, admitting that an opportunity she was not prepared for became more of a burden.
Lim also addressed the criticism she received over her acting, confessing, “I felt like I was an actress who was hurting the project. At a young age, those were wounds that were not easy to handle.”
Still, she continued to wait for another chance and worked to improve, steadily building her acting skills.
