Shin Mina shared her thoughts on taking on a new challenge in the upcoming Disney Plus series The Remarried Empress.
The series, set for release in the second half of this year, follows Empress Navier of the Eastern Empire, a character known for her intelligence and dignity. Shin Mina takes on the role of Navier in the highly anticipated fantasy romance drama.
In a recent interview with Herald Muse at a cafe, Shin Mina spoke about her desire to take on a wider range of genres.
She said, “I had many concerns about The Remarried Empress at first, but once I put on the costumes and started calling each other by character names, it didn’t feel awkward at all.” She added, “We are all satisfied with it now, but I’m curious to see how viewers will react after its release.”
She continued, “Due to the immense interest, we all felt pressure, but we filmed with our utmost effort.”
Shin Mina also shared her enjoyment of the production process, saying, “Wearing the dresses was also fun. We would say to each other, ‘When else would we get to wear outfits like this?’ while filming.” She added, “From the costumes to the character names, everything felt very special.”
She further reflected on her career, saying, “I’m grateful that I’m receiving more diverse project offers as I get older.” She added, “I want to make the most of the opportunities given and take on a wider range of roles and projects. I haven’t done a historical drama since Arang and the Magistrate, but if I get the chance, I’d like to try one again. I’m sure it would be fun.”
Meanwhile, The Remarried Empress is a grand romantic fantasy about Empress Navier of the Eastern Empire, who accepts Emperor Sovieshu’s request for divorce but asks for permission to remarry Prince Heinrey of the Western Kingdom.
Shin Mina will also appear in the upcoming film The Eye, set for release on June 24th. The suspense thriller follows Seojin, a woman gradually losing her eyesight due to a genetic disorder, as she uncovers the mystery surrounding her twin sister’s death.
