Chef Sung Ahn, who rose to wider fame as a judge on Culinary Class Wars, is facing fresh controversy after a customer accused his fine-dining restaurant MOSU Seoul of failing to properly handle compensation following a valet parking accident involving a luxury vehicle.
According to a May 20th report by TV Chosun’s News9, customer A was visiting MOSU Seoul in December 2025 when their car was damaged by a valet driver. The accident reportedly happened after the driver lost control of the vehicle, causing it to slide.
The restaurant initially promised to handle the situation, and the valet company reportedly paid about 20 million won (approximately $13,200) to the repair shop. However, the estimated repair cost later climbed to 70 million won, sparking a dispute over who would cover the remaining amount.
During the process, a MOSU representative allegedly told the customer, “We’re sorry, but there’s not much we can do,” before suggesting that pursuing legal action might be the “best option.”
As a result, the customer reportedly still has not been able to retrieve the vehicle, even three months after repairs were completed, because the payment issue remains unresolved.
“I entrusted my car to MOSU, so this has been incredibly disappointing and upsetting,” the customer said.
MOSU Seoul responded by saying that, in principle, the valet company bears responsibility for the accident, but added that they would continue working with the valet provider “so the customer can receive reasonable compensation.”
The latest controversy comes shortly after MOSU Seoul faced backlash over a separate “wine swap” incident. The restaurant was accused of serving a customer a cheaper wine instead of the bottle paired with their course meal.
The controversy escalated further after reports claimed staff members were aware of the mistake but failed to immediately explain the situation to the customer. Instead, when the customer asked to photograph the wine, staff allegedly brought out the originally intended bottle rather than the one that had actually been served.
As criticism mounted, responsibility also extended to Anh Sung Jae himself, who later issued a public apology statement addressing the controversy.
