Ryu Jun Yeol has been spotted in Cannes amid the ongoing film festival.
On May 13th, a Japanese netizen claiming to be an employee of Japanese film distributor Elas Films shared an encounter with Ryu Jun Yeol on social media, writing, “I met Ryu Jun Yeol at the Cannes Film Festival.”
The netizen recalled, “I assumed he was there as a buyer. When I mentioned that I had distributed a Korean film, he asked which one. I thought it might be awkward to say it was a Han So Hee film because of the dating rumors, but when I said it was White Blast, he burst out laughing and said, ‘Of course I know the Han So Hee film! It’s really good,’ and continued talking with me.”
The accompanying photo shows the two smiling brightly at the camera. Ryu Jun Yeol was seen wearing a white shirt paired with a dark green jacket and a badge granting access to the Cannes Film Festival premises.

His cheerful reaction to what could have been a sensitive topic drew attention online and added a lighthearted touch to the encounter.
This year’s Cannes Film Festival features director Park Chan Wook as the jury president. Director Na Hong Jin’s Hope was officially invited to the competition section, and director Yeon Sang Ho’s Colony was invited to the non-competition section. Additionally, director July Jung’s Dora will be screened in the Directors’ Fortnight.
Although Ryu Jun Yeol did not star in any of the invited films, he appears to be visiting the festival as a film industry professional, enjoying the atmosphere. Notably, he has a past connection with director Yeon Sang Ho from their work on Revelations.
Meanwhile, Ryu Jun Yeol is expected to meet audiences with his upcoming Netflix series, Mousetrap and Outback (literal title).
