The fallout from Heeseung’s departure from ENHYPEN is continuing online after music producer El Capitxn sparked controversy with a heated Instagram post.

On March 12th, El Capitxn shared a photo of himself smoking along with a message on his Instagram, using profanity while addressing fans who had been messaging him about Heeseung.

“Stop sending me messages about Heeseung,” he wrote in part, adding that fans should “hug him before throwing stones if you’re real fans.” The post also included several insults directed at people criticizing him.

As the comments quickly drew backlash, El Capitxn deleted the profanity from the post and left only a short message saying, “Now get lost. Go play on Twitter.”

El Capitxn, a former member of the group History, currently works as a producer under BigHit Music. He previously collaborated with Heeseung on the track “Highway 1009.”

Earlier, on March 10th, ENHYPEN’s agency Belift Lab announced that Heeseung would be leaving the group to pursue activities as a solo artist. Following his departure, ENHYPEN will continue as a six-member group consisting of Jungwon, Jay, Jake, Sunghoon, Sunoo, and Ni-ki.

The agency explained, “After having in-depth discussions about each member’s future and the group’s direction, we confirmed that Heeseung has a clear musical vision he wants to pursue. We decided to respect that choice.”

Heeseung also shared a handwritten letter with fans. “The six years I’ve spent here have been filled with moments that are too precious to fully put into words,” he wrote. “After thinking about it for a long time, I made a big decision to follow the direction the company suggested so I can return to ENGENE with a better version of myself.”

However, some fans have struggled to accept the sudden announcement. In online discussions, a few have even claimed that El Capitxn, who worked with Heeseung on music in the past, may have encouraged him.

ENHYPEN debuted in 2020 through the Mnet survival show I-LAND. The group went on to gain popularity with songs including “No Doubt” and “Bite Me,” and released their seventh mini album THE SIN: VANISH earlier this year.
