A popular Mexican entertainment news program has come under fire for making disparaging remarks about BTS and their fanbase, ARMY.
The show Chismorreo aired a segment on February 4th on Canal 6 discussing the heated ticket war for BTS’s upcoming “Arirang” World Tour stops in Mexico City. The segment covered complaints from fans regarding the lack of seating charts, unclear fees and ticket scalping, as well as the government’s response led by President Claudia Sheinbaum.
However, the discussion quickly turned controversial when the panelists began mocking the fans’ devotion.
Television personality Luisa Fernanda dismissed the fans’ complaints, comparing the situation to Shakira’s sold-out concerts. “People feel exploited by high ticket prices, yet this is the level of their judgment,” she remarked, implying fans were foolish for paying such prices.
Another panelist, Fabián Lavalle, took the criticism a step further. As images of BTS played on the screen, he stated, “If I had a 17-year-old daughter, I’d tell her to go do her homework. This is not the time to be crying over some unknown singer’s concert.”
When the host attempted to intervene, noting that “many children dream of seeing BTS in person,” Fernanda blurted out, “I guarantee half of these fans haven’t even properly finished elementary school, yet they’re trying to go to the concert.”
An ARMY member who shared the recorded clip of the broadcast said: “In the Chismorreo TV program, they mocked ARMY Mexico over the lawsuit against Ticketmaster. Both Adrián Lavalla and Luisa Fernanda called us a fandom of ‘17-year-old girls who didn’t even finish elementary school’ and referred to BTS as ‘good-for-nothing pretty boys.’ ARMYs already know what to do.”

The clip has since gone viral, drawing a flood of comments from BTS fans in Mexico and around the world. Social media platforms have been bombarded with comments criticizing the hosts for their “blatant prejudice” and “classist” remarks.
Fans were particularly offended by the “uneducated” label, with many taking to X (formerly Twitter) to post photos of their university degrees and professional licenses—ranging from doctors to engineers—to disprove the stereotype.
BTS is scheduled to perform historic shows at the GNP Seguros Stadium in Mexico City on May 7th, 9th and 10th.
