A certified public accountant has raised red flags over Fantagio’s response to the tax-related allegations surrounding Kim Seon Ho, calling the agency’s explanation “risky” and potentially self-defeating.
Attorney and CPA Kim Myung Gyu weighed in on February 2nd via social media, noting, “Before the issue surrounding Cha Eun Woo’s tax assessment has even cooled down, similar allegations have now surfaced involving fellow agency artist Kim Seon Ho.”
Summarizing the claims, Kim wrote, “The reports point to a company registered at a private residence, corporate cards used for personal expenses, and parents allegedly receiving salaries without real work.” He then took aim at the agency’s defense, adding, “From a legal and accounting perspective, this explanation feels dangerous. Saying there was no business activity may actually make things worse.”
Kim explained that if the company truly had no operations, there should have been no spending. “If corporate cards were used or salaries were paid during a period with no real business, those payments are classified as non-business expenses,” he said. “That opens the door to interpretations of embezzlement or breach of trust.”
He added that shutting down a company does not erase its paper trail. “Closing a business does not make tax records disappear. In fact, the shutdown phase is often when authorities take a closer look at money flows,” Kim warned.
According to Kim, the core issue is whether the business had real substance. “Did theater planning actually happen? Did the parents genuinely work for the company?” he asked. “If those cannot be clearly proven, this explanation risks escalating a tax controversy into something much more serious.”
The scrutiny follows reports that Kim Seon Ho, like agency labelmate Cha Eun Woo, operated a family-run corporation registered at his home address, raising questions about income routing.
Fantagio has denied wrongdoing, stating, “The one-person corporation was established solely for theater production and related activities and was never intended for tax evasion.” The agency added that business operations stopped more than a year ago and that the company is currently being shut down in accordance with legal procedures.
