Kim Seon Ho is facing tax evasion allegations, sparking industry concern as several of his high-profile upcoming projects move closer to release.
Coming on the heels of tax allegations involving agency labelmate Cha Eun Woo, Kim Seon Ho’s situation has sparked industry concern over potential ripple effects for Disney+ and CJ ENM, where several of his projects are already in the pipeline.
Kim Seon Ho is slated to star in the TVING original series In the Net, tvN’s upcoming drama The Congressman Sends My Condolences, and the Disney original series Portraits of Delusion. Most of the projects are either completed or nearing the end of filming.
In the Net, based on Chan Ho-kei’s novel “Second Sister,” follows a woman investigating her sister’s mysterious death after refusing to accept it as suicide. The series is produced by Yong Film, a CJ ENM–affiliated studio.
Because both In the Net and The Congressman Sends My Condolences are tied to CJ ENM platforms, industry watchers are questioning whether the allegations could impact scheduling or release plans. CJ ENM has previously weathered setbacks tied to celebrity controversies, adding to speculation.
Disney+ is also reportedly proceeding with caution. After indefinitely delaying Kim Soo Hyun’s Knock-Off and pushing back Battle of Fates featuring Park Na Rae, questions are now emerging over the release timing of Kim Seon Ho’s Portraits of Delusion.
The allegations claim that prior to signing with Fantagio, Kim Seon Ho established a one-person company that was allegedly used for tax evasion purposes. Reports further allege that the company was registered under his home address in Seoul, with family members listed as executives, and that corporate cards were used to cover personal living and entertainment expenses.
Fantagio denied wrongdoing, stating, “Kim Seon Ho signed his exclusive contract in his personal name, and all legal and tax-related procedures connected to his activities have been properly followed.” The agency added that the separate company has seen no business activity for over a year and is currently being shut down according to legal procedures.
As scrutiny continues, the industry is watching closely to see whether the controversy will ripple through one of Korea’s busiest upcoming drama slates.
