New allegations are fueling outrage in the case involving Nana, after a witness claimed the man accused of breaking into her home planned to seek compensation—even while in detention.

On January 5th, JTBC’s Crime Chief aired testimony from a source who said they encountered the suspect, a man in his 30s identified as B, while being held in a detention center over unrelated fines.

According to the witness, B casually recounted the incident, claiming he dropped his weapon during a struggle with Nana’s mother and that Nana later grabbed it during the chaos. More disturbing, the witness said B viewed the situation as leverage. “If I’m going to prison anyway, I have nothing to lose,” B allegedly said, adding that he planned to countersue and “get something out of it.” The witness noted that B spoke while smiling, seemingly unfazed by the severity of the situation.

Legal analyst Park Ji Hoon said the move likely stems from Korea’s narrow interpretation of self-defense, but emphasized it’s unlikely to help the suspect. Even if the case goes to trial, Park said, Nana is expected to be recognized as acting in self-defense, while the suspect could face harsher penalties.

The incident occurred last November, when B broke into Nana’s home while armed. During the altercation, Nana’s mother reportedly lost consciousness after being strangled, while the suspect sustained only a minor injury.

B is currently detained on charges of robbery resulting in injury. Controversy intensified after it emerged that he had filed a counter-complaint accusing Nana of attempted murder and aggravated assault.

Nana’s agency Sublime has vowed to pursue all possible civil and criminal action. Nana also reassured fans, saying she would stay strong and see the matter through.
