A man who broke into Nana’s home has filed a countersuit against the star, claiming she offered him money to lie to police—a claim authorities and Nana’s agency strongly deny.
According to JTBC’s Crime Chief, the suspect, who is currently in custody, sent five handwritten letters from jail to the show, detailing his version of events. He insisted he did not bring a weapon beforehand, never touched Nana, and was instead assaulted by her.
The man further claimed that after being restrained, Nana allegedly offered him 40 million won (about $28,000) if he told police he had entered the home armed.
Police flatly reject that account. Authorities say the suspect entered Nana’s residence carrying a bladed weapon in a sheath. During the incident, Nana’s mother reportedly lost consciousness, and a physical struggle broke out as Nana tried to disarm him. Police emphasized that Nana’s actions were clearly self-defense and that the suspect’s claims of being assaulted are not supported by the investigation.
Investigators also revealed that the suspect initially confessed to the crime before later changing his story.
In his jail letters, the man said he believed Nana’s alleged proposal and gave a statement accordingly, but decided to speak out after learning—while detained—that Nana and her mother had submitted medical injury reports.
However, the show countered that Nana never offered any money related to medical bills or the weapon, instead, it was the suspect who begged Nana and her mother not to call the police. While her mother briefly considered it, Nana ultimately chose to report the incident.
The suspect has since reversed his testimony multiple times and recently filed a countersuit accusing Nana of attempted murder. Some observers see the move as a legal tactic aimed at undermining the self-defense ruling and reducing his sentence.
Nana’s agency responded firmly, stating that the suspect’s criminal actions were “clearly confirmed through a thorough investigation” and accusing him of causing further harm by exploiting the victim’s public profile. The agency added that they will pursue all possible civil and criminal legal action, with no leniency.
